Sweet wines

& passion

The unique terroir around Illmitz is known for producing the best sweet wines in the world. We cultivate our vineyards here with care and dedication. Quality is our top priority. Careful manual harvesting, precise control of fermentation and reductive vinification ensure that our wines reflect the character of our unique terroir - with balanced stylistics and varietal typicity. National and international recognition makes us proud and is also an incentive and confirmation of what we do.

Naturally

& unadulterated

While our aromatic red wines mature in wooden barrels, the Prädikat wines rest undisturbed in stainless steel tanks. This allows the wines to retain their distinctive fruit flavours, freshness and clarity. Here they develop a harmonious balance of sweetness, acidity and alcohol until bottling.

Craftsmanship

& sensitivity

Every grape variety, every vineyard, every vintage is different and requires a great deal of experience and sensitivity. All vintages are an enrichment for our cellar, our work and our development. Every sip of wine not only tastes of grape fruit, but also of the passion and tradition that we have honed over decades.

Climate, soil

& Luck

We are very fortunate that our vineyards are located in the UNESCO World Heritage region of the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park. The sun-kissed region with its vines and salt marshes offers ideal conditions for the production of the finest wines of the highest quality. Our vines thrive in the mild Pannonian climate. Warm days, cool nights and high humidity also favour the noble ripeness - the ‘Botrytis cinerea’ - which is the basis for precious sweet wines. Fine sandy soils, light gravel soils, mineral salt soils and dark black earth soils pass on the flavour and strength of the region.
