“Nachhaltig Austria” stands for wines that are produced according to strict economic, ecological and social criteria. From soil cultivation to bottling, every step of the production process is checked for its contribution to sustainability. Not only the careful handling of the vine and the soil is recognized, but also the impact on our environment in order to meet the requirements of the “European Green Deal”.
The initiative of the Austrian Winegrowers’ Association created this certificate to promote commitment to a healthy environment and responsible use of resources. Around 360 measures in the areas of climate, materials, energy, soil, biodiversity, water, quality, social issues and economy are required to obtain this valuable certificate. This rigorous assessment is carried out year after year.
